Both formats print the same way. The difference is how the pouch behaves on a shelf and how much product it has to hold.
Stand Up Pouch
The gusset opens into a base so the pouch stands on its own and gives your artwork a full front panel of shelf presence. Best for retail, snacks, coffee, powders, pet and supplement lines. Add tear notches, zippers, hang holes and clear windows.
Lay Flat Pouch
No bottom gusset. Lays flat for shipping and display, hangs on a hook, and uses less film for lighter fills. Best for single-serve, sample programs, hardware, and anything sold on a peg.

They are the same thing. A stand up pouch has a front panel, a back panel and a bottom gusset. The gusset is what lets it stand. Some buyers also use gusseted to mean side gussets, which add depth without a standing base. Tell us the fill volume and we will spec the right one.
Yes. A common build is a matte finish with a clear gloss window so the product shows through while the rest of the pouch stays soft to the touch.
Yes. Standard, powder resistant and child resistant zippers are all available. Powder resistant is the usual choice for protein, greens and supplement powders.
