Custom labels and packaging
K. Sidrane prints pressure sensitive labels, shrink sleeves, folding cartons, hang tags and flexible packaging out of two facilities in Farmingdale, New York. The company started in 1948, when Harold Sidrane built one of the converting industry’s first presses in his own apartment on Bank Street in Manhattan. It is still a family business, now in its third generation.
Most of the work runs digitally, with specialty finishing handled in house: foils, tactile varnish, embossing, spot UV and soft touch lamination. In 2023 we opened a second Farmingdale facility built for flexible packaging, so stand up pouches, stick packs, sachets and flow wrap get printed and converted here instead of shipped in from overseas. The packaging experts
Labels, cartons, tags and flexible packaging all come off the same floor, which is the simplest way to keep color and finish consistent across a product line. Here is what each format is for.
The core of the business. Pressure sensitive labels run on rolls and go on almost anything: jars, cans, cartons, PET bottles and pouches. Face stocks run from paper, white, clear and metallized film through to textured wine stocks and holographic films, finished with UV varnish or lamination over the print.
Pouches ship flat, store tighter than jars and tubs, and give you a front panel, a back panel and a bottom gusset to print on. Stand up pouches hold themselves upright on shelf, lay flat pouches stack or hang from a hole. Base film comes metallized, clear or white, with resealable or childproof zippers, tear notches, handles and product windows.
Single serve, filled several units across on a vertical form fill and seal line, and easy to tear open and throw away. Stick packs suit powders and drink mixes for a customer who is going to use the product away from home, and they are a straightforward way to put samples in people’s hands.
Sachets run on a horizontal form fill and seal line for a three sided seal, which suits powders, liquids and gels and makes them the usual choice for promotional samples. Flow wrap seals the product at both ends with a fin seal down the back, common on food and on single use items. Snack webs, cosmetic webs, forming films and heat seal polypros.
A printed film seamed and shrunk onto the container so it takes the shape of the package: 360 degrees of print with no label edge. Common on ready to drink cans, beer, wine bottles, food containers and beauty packaging. Full body sleeves and partial bands are both available.
A printed box is secondary packaging that adds a layer of premium to whatever is inside, and it gives you room for visuals and copy that will not fit on a label. Health and beauty, candles and household goods, specialty food and supplements all use them, as do variety packs that bundle several items together.
A hang tag adds a dimension the label cannot: extra imagery, more product information, a coupon toward the next purchase, or simply a more premium feel. Tags arrive bagged in bulk, strung to your specification and ready to apply. Send a product for sizing and we will work out the stringing length.
A drop in candle topper, die cut to fit the top of the vessel around the wick, with a side pull tab. It keeps dust off the wax, finishes the look of the candle in the jar, and gives the brand one more printed surface at the point where a shopper looks first.
Sustainability
At K. Sidrane, we know that leaving a habitable, safe and healthy world for future generations is a top concern of manufacturers and consumers alike. That is why we are focused on offering recycled materials, eco-friendly product choices and even compostable products.
Pouches help here too. They ship and store flatter than glass jars or plastic tubs, and once a customer is done with them there is less to throw away.
